Starbucks Hot Matcha Latte

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
  • ⅛-1/4 cup hot but not boiling water
  • 1 cup milk of choice soy milk, oat milk, cow's milk, almond milk
  • Optional sweeteners:
  • 1 teaspoon honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, etc.

Instructions
 

  • Add 1 teaspoon of matcha to the bottom of a wide mouth mug.
    Hold your matcha whisk over the top of the mug and slowly pour about ⅛-1/4 cup of hot (but not yet boiling) water over the whisk into the matcha. You want your matcha whisk damp before mixing the matcha.
    Use up and down (vertical) and back and forth (horizontal) strokes with your matcha whisk to whisk the hot water into the matcha green tea powder.
    Once there are no particles of matcha powder left and the matcha is mixed into the water completely, set your mug aside while you steam the milk.
    1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder, ⅛-1/4 cup hot but not boiling water
  • Use a milk steamer to steam your milk. If you don't have a milk steamer, you can also heat milk over the stove and whisk it the entire time to create a frothy creamy stove top steamed milk.
    1 cup milk of choice
  • Pour your steamed milk over the matcha in a circular motion to swirl the milk into the matcha.
    Taste and add in any sweetener that you like with a spoon.
    Enjoy!
