Equipment

  • espresso machine; blender (optional)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ice cubes use more if you have a larger glass
  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder
  • ¼ cup hot but not boiling water
  • ¾ cup milk of choice
  • 2 shots espresso
  • 2 teaspoon coconut sugar or other sweetener optional

Instructions

  • First start by making your espresso. Since this is an iced drink, I like mine to cool off as much as it can before I pour it over ice.
    2 shots espresso
  • Fill your glass to the top with your ice cubes. If you want to go for the layered latte look, like you see in the picture, it works best with a lot of ice!
    1 cup ice cubes
  • In a bowl, whisk the matcha powder with the ¼ cup of hot water. Pour into the bottom of your glass. You can also whisk sweetener into your matcha if you like a sweeter matcha.
1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder, ¼ cup hot but not boiling water, 2 teaspoon coconut sugar or other sweetener
  • Pour the matcha mixture over the ice.
  • Slowly pour the milk over the matcha.
    ¾ cup milk of choice
  • Finally, pour your espresso over the top!

Variations for my dirty iced matcha latte recipe
  1. DIRTY MATCHA LATTE HOT: To make a dirty matcha latte hot, simply skip the ice and steam your milk instead! After whisking the matcha green tea powder into the hot water, add any sweetener you like. Then, pour in steamed milk and top with 2 shots of hot espresso!
  2. DIRTY MATCHA LATTE RECIPE WITH COFFEE: If you don't have an espresso maker but still want to try out a dirty matcha, you can still make one using extra strong coffee! Brew your coffee at double strength and then pour about ¼ cup of the coffee over top the matcha latte.
