    Healthy Cookie Dough Blizzard. This healthy cookie dough dairy queen blizzard copycat recipe is so delicious! It is made with healthy ingredients like chickpea cookie dough and frozen bananas.

    My Healthy Cookie Dough Blizzard recipe is:

    What reminds you of summer more than stopping off to get one of those huge sweet milkshakes or blizzards?? Cooling off with a sweet and frosty treat tastes soo good in the moment. But then, an hour later.. not so good. I don't know about you, but right after I eat one of those.. no matter how delicious it was.. I get the worst stomach ache. My stomach does not process sugar and dairy very well. So, I created a healthy cookie dough blizzard!

    HOW MANY CALORIES IN A COOKIE DOUGH BLIZZARD?

    A large size cookie dough blizzard is 1340 calories.

    A note on counting calories.. A lot of people look at the calories in a banana, or chickpeas, and think oh my gosh that is a LOT! And while yes ½ cup of chickpeas does contain ~350 calories, that is not the end all be all. Chickpeas are LOADED with other beneficial nutrients, including fiber. When food has a high amount of fiber, it takes more energy for your body to break down. Meaning, you are actually burning calories to digest high fiber foods and not actually ingesting 350 calories.

    This same concept goes with "fruit sugar." Fruit is not sugar. The "fruit sugar" that is in fruit is bound to fiber. Fiber helps to slow digestion and lower that blood glucose spike. However, if you do have diabetes, or struggle with blood sugar control, of course you have to be more mindful to include healthy fats & protein with your meals.

    Just look at the difference in ingredients below! Can you count the amount of times they added sugar or a sugar ingredient?

    Large Dairy Queen Cookie Dough Blizzard:

    Carbs: 195 grams

    Now, ask yourself when looking at the ingredients of the two cookie dough blizzards: are calories just calories?

    TIPS FOR MAKING THE BEST HEALTHY COOKIE DOUGH BLIZZARD

    MAKE THE CHICKPEA COOKIE DOUGH THE NIGHT BEFORE. Roll the chickpea cookie dough into small balls and freeze on parchment paper overnight.

    USE SUPER RIPE FROZEN BANANAS. Ripe bananas will have the sweetest flavor.

    USE COLLAGEN OR PROTEIN POWDER. Using protein will help to lower the blood glucose spike.

    ADD PEANUT BUTTER OR CASHEW BUTTER. This will add lots of healthy fats and lower the blood glucose spike along with the protein.

    • Bananas are an excellent source of fiber and potassium. They make the base of this creamy delight.
    • Collagen powder has so many benefits like gut health, joint health, and hair health.
    • Peanut Butter is a good source of protein and some fats!

    HOW TO MAKE A HEALTHY COOKIE DOUGH BLIZZARD

    INGREDIENTS NEEDED

    • Frozen bananas
    • Collagen powder
    • Peanut butter
    • Sea salt

    EQUIPMENT NEEDED

    • Blender or food processor

    This recipe is SO easy to make!! And it tastes really good without the chickpea cookie dough too!

    Let's make it!

    First, add the frozen bananas, collagen, peanut butter, and sea salt to a food processor or blender.

    Turn on your blender and blend it until it is smooth and creamy.

    Turn the food processor off and stir in the prepared cookie dough balls. And that's it!

    Enjoy!!

    You can share this with a friend if it is too much banana for you but I'm sure you'll finish it by yourself hehe!

    IS THIS BLIZZARD RECIPE FOR ONE OR TWO?

    This is made for 1! But, you can definitely share it between 2 people, I know that it is a super energy dense dessert, and could be heavy especially if you are eating it right before bed.

    If you want to make it smaller, with less calories, carbs, protein, and fiber, you can easily divide all the ingredients in half!

    When I think about what is in a traditional cookie dough blizzard, my healthy cookie dough blizzard definitely seems like the healthier option.. even though it does have a high total calorie count. Remember everything that comes in my healthy version: healthy fats, fiber, protein, and many vitamins & minerals like iron and vitamin C!

    HOW MUCH SUGAR IS IN A COOKIE DOUGH BLIZZARD?

    The classic cookie dough blizzard has a whopping 143 grams of added sugar! Keep in mind that we should only eat about 25 grams of added sugars per day.

    IS THE COOKIE DOUGH BLIZZARD GOOD?

    Yes! The cookie dough blizzard has a base of a vanilla banana ice cream with chunks of sweet chickpea cookie dough stirred in.

    Ingredients
      

    • 3 frozen bananas
    • 1 scoop collagen powder sub coconut collagen or vegan protein powder if vegan/ dairy free diet
    • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
    • Dash sea salt
    • ½ batch chocolate chip chickpea cookie dough, rolled into balls and then frozen link to the recipe in the notes

    Instructions
     

    • Add all the ingredients except the cookie dough to a blender or food processor. Blend until it is smooth and creamy.
    • Remove the blade from the blender or food processor. Stir in the cookie dough balls.
