I wrote this recipe years ago and had originally made it with a base of pumpkin spice chia pudding and topped it with a thick smoothie. Since then, I've moved away from my thick smoothie jars and into easier to make smoothies.
I hope you guys love this updated pumpkin smoothie recipe as much as we did! It is so easy to make and tastes just like a pumpkin pie!

IS CANNED PUMPKIN GOOD FOR YOU?
Yes, canned pumpkin is good for you and is an easy way to get in more vegetables! Make sure you buy organic canned pumpkin in BPA free cans to ensure that you're getting the best pumpkin quality for your body.
Canned pumpkin is great for fiber and beta carotene, both of which support gut health and overall weight loss!
WHAT'S IN THE PUMPKIN SMOOTHIE AT SMOOTHIE KING?
The pumpkin D-lite smoothie has organic pumpkin, dates, milk, protein blend, spice blend, and vanilla frozen yogurt. This smoothie is actually a great option for a pretty healthy treat or snack on the go. 6 grams of added sugar, 8 grams of fiber, and 12 grams of protein.
TIPS TO MAKE THE MOST DELICIOUS HEALTHY PUMPKIN PIE SMOOTHIE
Use an extra ripe banana or dates. Either of these is going to give you that really sweet pumpkin pie flavor, but without the added sugar.
Use vanilla yogurt, and vanilla milk. Both of these will add a delicious vanilla flavor to your pumpkin smoothie. Make sure you choose yogurt and milk with as little added sugar as possible for the healthiest smoothie.
Add ice cubes! Believe it or not, this was the first time I used ice cubes in my smoothie and it turned out so good! The ice cubes added a delicious cold and smooth texture, without having to add too much "stuff" into my smoothie.
HOW TO MAKE MY HEALTHY PUMPKIN SMOOTHIE IN ANY BLENDER!
(skip to the next section if you're making the pumpkin smoothie bowl instead)
This smoothie is so easy to make and you can use any blender that you have! My most asked question is what blender should be used to make smoothies? And really, any blender will work. I'm showing you how to make this one today in a small hand held blender rather than my big one.
STEP 1: add ingredients to your blender
In your blender, add:
- 1 frozen banana
- ½ cup canned or fresh pumpkin puree
- ½ cup vanilla yogurt
- Hand full ice cubes
- ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- ½ cup milk of choice
STEP 2: blend and enjoy!
Blend your smoothie till there are no frozen banana or ice cube chunks left. Garnish with a little sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice on top.
Hope you guys love this one as much as we did!
HOW TO MAKE A THICK PUMPKIN SMOOTHIE BOWL INSTEAD
Scoop pumpkin puree into ice cube trays, it is best to use a flexible one like silicone so you can easily remove the frozen pumpkin cubes. Place in the freezer overnight to freeze solid.
Once pumpkin puree is frozen solid (I freeze mine overnight), add it to your blender along with:
- 1 frozen banana
- ½ cup yogurt
- 1 scoop protein powder
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
- add a splash of milk as needed. (It is best to keep blending and not add milk for the most thick smoothie bowl texture.)
Blend till completely smooth, scoop into a bowl and enjoy! Happy Fall!
My original pumpkin smoothie jar was made with a base of pumpkin pie spice chia pudding (2 tablespoons chia seeds, ½ cup soy milk, ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice) and topped with a sweet potato smoothie (½ cup sweet potato, 3 frozen bananas, 1 scoop collagen powder).
While my smoothie jars are so gorgeous to look at, they're not the most convenient. So, I updated this pumpkin spice smoothie jar into an easy to make drinkable pumpkin pie smoothie. I hope you guys love the new version as much as we did!
