Healthy frozen Greek yogurt bars! This is the best Greek yogurt bars recipe you'll ever make, your whole family will love them! I made my healthy frozen Greek yogurt bars recipe with just 5 good for you ingredients- so good you can even feed them to your little ones!
It's been so hot here in upstate New York this summer and it is not even July. Needless to say, we have been getting lots of ice cream bars and stopping at the ice cream stand. But I don't feel good about my toddler eating so much sugar, so I wanted to make something healthy and delicious at home.
So I used Yasso peanut butter crunch bars as my inspiration and substituted all the ingredients out for healthy options! The result was an incredibly delicious and easy Greek yogurt bar recipe that you can even have your kids make for you!

HEALTHY FROZEN GREEK YOGURT BARS INGREDIENTS
My healthy Greek yogurt bars recipe is made with just 5 healthy ingredients! I used full fat Greek yogurt for the most creamy texture. And also, full fat yogurt is an excellent option for women and children because our bodies will absorb more nutrients from it rather than from fat free Greek yogurt.
- 1 cup 10% fat Greek yogurt
- ¼ cup peanut butter sub cashew or almond butter
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup sub honey or date syrup
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- dash sea salt
You can eat these yogurt bars just like this, or you can use extra dark chocolate for a chocolate covered Greek yogurt bar! Make sure to use 85% dark chocolate or higher for the most nutrients and lowest amount of sugar.
ARE FROZEN GREEK YOGURT BARS HEALTHY?
Yasso Greek yogurt bars, and other frozen yogurt bars you see at the store are usually not very healthy. They may seem healthy because of the marketing and you read Greek yogurt.. yay how healthy! But, just 1 Yasso peanut butter crunch bar has 11 grams of added sugar!
I wanted to make a Yasso peanut butter crunch recipe with as little added sugar as possible, so let's see if we can do it!
WHAT KIND OF FROZEN YOGURT IS HEALTHIEST?
If you're wondering what kind of frozen yogurt is the healthiest option for you and your kids, well the frozen yogurt shop is definitely at the bottom of the list. Those frozen yogurt soft serve ice cream's pack an insanely high amount of sugar which is so bad for us and our kids! Plus they're bouncing off the walls as soon as they're done eating.. not a win win!
Frozen yogurt bars like Yasso, are slightly healthier since they do have more protein and a bit less sugar.. but I think we can all do much better by simply making frozen Greek yogurt bars healthy at home!
HOW TO MAKE GREEK YOGURT TASTE GOOD BUT STILL HEALTHY
Now I'm not going to tell you that plain Greek yogurt tastes anything like a sweet frozen yogurt delight.. in fact it tastes like sour cream.. great on tacos and for dips but not as a dessert.
Here is what I add to my plain full fat Greek yogurt to make it taste good but still healthy:
- Pureed dates
- Pureed bananas
- Chopped fresh ripe fruit (not un ripe which would taste sour)
- Raw honey (best from your local farmer)
- Pure maple syrup (no not pancake syrup)
- Cashew butter
- Pure vanilla extract
Why full fat Greek yogurt in a healthy yogurt bars recipe? You may be wondering why I use full fat Greek yogurt when it does in fact have more calories. Well, calories are not just plain calories.
Full fat Greek yogurt allows our bodies to absorb the nutrients in the yogurt much better than in low or no fat. I always say, food is packaged by nature in the best way that let's our bodies use it completely!

HOW TO MAKE YOGURT POPSICLES FOR BABIES & TODDLERS
Want to make healthy frozen yogurt bars for babies and toddlers? These bars are already great for babies and toddlers! My 3 year old is obsessed with helping me make these popsicles every week!
For babies under 12 months old, use a different sweetener like pureed bananas or dates rather than raw honey. Also for babies under 12 months old, I would omit the dark chocolate topping.
HOW TO MAKE FROZEN GREEK YOGURT BARK INSTEAD
If you don't have popsicle molds, or want to turn this healthy frozen Greek yogurt bars recipe into a simple frozen Greek yogurt bark, use all of the same ingredients. But instead of dividing the mixture in popsicle molds, just spread the Greek yogurt mixture on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Freeze until it is solid and then pour melted dark chocolate over the top.
Crack into pieces and store in an airtight bag for up to a month!
FAQ'S
Frequently asked questions about my healthy frozen Greek yogurt popsicle recipe.
Are Greek yogurt bars healthier than ice cream?
Store bought Greek yogurt bars may not be healthier than ice cream because of the sugar content and artificial additives and flavorings. But my homemade healthy frozen yogurt bars are much healthier than ice cream!
What fruit goes well with frozen Greek yogurt?
You can also turn these healthy frozen Greek yogurt popsicles into yogurt fruit popsicles! Simply stir in your favorite chopped fruit before freezing into molds. It is an excellent way to use up leftover fruit!
How to make yogurt popsicles creamy?
For the creamiest yogurt popsicle texture make sure to use full fat Greek yogurt. I went even further and used 10% fat instead of 5% fat and then texture was just like ice cream! Non fat Greek yogurt will have more of an icy texture.
