    Learn how to freeze avocados without them turning brown! No lemon juice necessary. If you have tons of ripe avocados at home with nothing to do, then freezing ripe avocados is the best way to preserve them for later!

    If you're wondering, can you freeze ripe avocados then the answer is yes! I've got the best way to freeze avocados in 5 minutes flat! All you need is a knife and a zip lock or airtight bag.

    This frozen avocado hack works amazing and your avocados will not turn brown. You do not even need lemon juice! Avocados are loaded with so many healthy benefits that you don't want to miss out on just because too many are ripe all at once!

    What you need to get started:

    • Ripe avocados
    • Zip lock/ air tight bag
    • Knife

    HOW TO FREEZE AVOCADOS WITHOUT TURNING BROWN!

    Okay, so you might be wondering.. how do you freeze an avocado without browning it? All you have to do is cut the avocado into any sized chunks that you want, add them to an air tight bag. Press out all the air and immediately place in your freezer. You do not need lemon juice!!

    This is literally the easiest and the best way to freeze ripe avocados! They will not brown if you freeze them this way.

    I love using frozen ripe avocado in my smoothies for an extra serving of vegetables in my day! It will make your smoothies so cold and creamy with no avocado flavor. You can add them to any of the smoothie recipes here on my site!

    DO AVOCADOS FREEZE WELL?

    Yes! The very creamy texture of fresh ripe avocado holds up well to freezing, which is why so many people stock up on them when they are on sale at the grocery store. Save even more money and freeze your ripe avocados at home yourself!

    Freezing avocados while they are ripe means that you don't have to rush yourself into using them up in the kitchen. Toss the avocado skins and pits straight into your compost to completely reduce food waste! Or you can grow an avocado plant from the pits so easily at home.

    Avocados have SO many health benefits! As a registered dietitian and expert in women's skin health, I frequently recommend many women to add avocados to their diet.

    • Weight loss- rich in fiber these super fruits will keep you full for SO long! Whether you add them to a smoothie or spread them on toast, you can't go wrong!
    • Hormone balance- avocados are one of the highest fiber fruits out there. That means all that fiber binds excess estrogen in your gut and helps balance your hormones!
    • Gut health- fiber and healthy fats feed your good gut bugs and contribute to a healthy ecosystem in your gut... which the benefits of a healthy gut are really endless!
    • Helps you poop- more fiber is healthier poop! Just make sure to drink enough water when you eat more fiber!
    • Clears your skin- when you eat something that is good for your gut, your skin really benefits! Not only that, avocados are rich in healthy fats, vitamin E, and vitamin C, which helps make your skin naturally healthier and glowing.

    If you're wondering, can you freeze avocados for smoothies? The answer is yes! Freezing overripe avocado for smoothies is one of the best ways to use avocados.

    HOW TO FREEZE AVOCADOS FOR SMOOTHIES?

    Make sure you wait until your avocados are very ripe before freezing them! Frozen ripe avocado chunks will make your smoothies so creamy and delicious with the texture of a milkshake. And, avocado has such a neutral flavor that sweet fruit will mask the flavor.

    HOW DO YOU FREEZE RIPE AVOCADOS AT HOME

    I've got the best way to freeze avocados without them turning brown! You do not need lemon juice! All you need is some zip lock bags, or any other kind of air tight bags, and a knife!

    STEP 1: SLICE AND REMOVE ANY BROWN SPOTS

    First, slice all of your ripe avocados in half. You can freeze as many as you have or as few as one.

    Next, remove all the pits from your avocados. If you notice any bruises or brown spots simply remove and discard them.

    STEP 2: SLICE INTO CHUNKS, SLICES, OR HALVES

    Slice each half of the avocado how want them to freeze. You can slice them into chunks, slices, balls, or even scoop the avocado out whole. I love to freeze them in chunks because this makes getting a bit out for a smoothie much easier.

    STEP 3: ADD TO ZIP LOCK BAGS AND FREEZE FLAT

    Scrape out the chunks and add them to your zip lock bags. I use about 1-1 ½ avocados per bag. Spread them so they are flat and not on top of each other.

    Press out any air and close the bag. Don't wait around to freeze them. Place them immediately in the freezer so the cold air can start doing its work and prevent any browning.

    If you have multiple bags, stack them on top of each other in the freezer. Make sure that the slices are laying flat and not overlapping each other.

    And that is it! They will not turn brown and they are ready to use in smoothies and so much more! They will store well in the airtight bags for up to 6 months! But I'm sure you'll have a delicious way to use them before then.

    HOW MUCH FROZEN AVOCADO EQUALS ONE AVOCADO?

    1 whole avocado equals about 1 cup of avocado chunks. I love freezing them flat so they don't stick together and can be easily measured out for all of your recipes.

    CAN YOU FREEZE AVOCADO AFTER CUTTING?

    Yes! If you have leftover avocado slices or chunks or really any leftover avocado you can preserve them so easily! Place your leftovers into an airtight bag, press out the air, and make sure they are flat in 1 layer when you put them in the freezer.

    DO AVOCADOS TASTE GOOD AFTER BEING FROZEN?

    Avocados are high in fat, so they are great after being frozen! However, since the bit of water in avocado expands when it freezes, the texture will change. I love using them in smoothies where they are blended into the smoothie and make a delicious creamy texture.

    CAN YOU FREEZE UNRIPE AVOCADOS?

    Make sure they are ripe before you freeze them! Not only is the unripe texture very hard to cut, but the flavor will not be as good as ripe.

    HOW TO FREEZE AVOCADO CHUNKS

    • Cut ripe avocado in half.
      You can freeze as many ripe avocados as you have!

    • Next, remove the pits from your avocados.
      Scape out and discard any bruises and brown spots.
    • Cut the avocado halves into either chunks or slices while they are still inside the peel.
    • Scrape the avocado flesh into an airtight bag.
      I add about 1 to 1 ½ avocados per bag.
      Spread the avocado chunks or slices out in the bag so that they lay flat and they are not on top of each other.
    • Press the air out and seal your bags.
      Freeze the flat bags on top of each other in your freezer till solid. Use in smoothies, smoothie bowls and more!
