PINEAPPLE STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE BOWL INGREDIENTS
Since you guys have been loving my no banana smoothie bowl recipes, I made another one! Here are the ingredients I used for my pineapple strawberry smoothie bowl with no banana:
- Frozen strawberries
- Frozen pineapple
- Milk of choice
- Optional: protein powder
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
My pineapple strawberry smoothie bowl tastes like a sweet fruit sorbet! If you are a fan of sorbet, this smoothie bowl is an excellent healthy alternative to make.
ARE SMOOTHIE BOWLS HEALTHY?
Yes! As a registered dietitian I can say that smoothie bowls are super healthy for you! Let's take a look at the ingredients in my healthy strawberry pineapple smoothie bowl recipe:
- Strawberries: rich in fiber, vitamin C, and more! Vitamin C helps your skin form collagen!
- Pineapple: rich in an antioxidant called bromelain, which is powerful at reducing inflammation.
- Milk: depending on the type you use, contains protein, calcium, vitamin D and healthy fats!
And if you add protein powder, plus some healthy fats like nuts or nut butter on top you have a balanced healthy smoothie bowl for breakfast!
DOES FRUIT HAVE TO BE FROZEN FOR A SMOOTHIE BOWL?
This is the number one question I get asked all the time. The answer is yes!! Fruit has to be frozen to get a thick smoothie bowl. Frozen fruit will give you that perfect ice cream like smoothie bowl texture.
And don't even think about adding ice, it will not be creamy.
TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE THE BEST STRAWBERRY PINEAPPLE SMOOTHIE BOWL
USE JUST FROZEN STRAWBERRIES AND PINEAPPLE. For a thick texture in your strawberry pineapple smoothie bowl recipe, don't use fresh fruit inside the smoothie bowl, save those as a topping.
BLEND UNTIL IT'S TOTALLY PUREED. I get asked all the time why is my smoothie bowl not creamy? Because it was not blended for long enough!
ONLY ADD A SPLASH OF LIQUID. My perfect ratio for liquid to frozen fruit in a smoothie bowl is â…› cup of liquid to 1 cup of frozen fruit.

HOW TO MAKE A THICK STRAWBERRY PINEAPPLE SMOOTHIE BOWL RECIPE AT HOME
I made my ultra thick strawberry pineapple smoothie bowl with no banana and just 3 ingredients!
Step 1: add ingredients to blender
This smoothie is very similar to my other tropical smoothie bowl, but not made in a coconut! If you wanna try cracking a fresh coconut to hold your smoothie bowl, check it out!
Start by putting the frozen pineapple, frozen strawberries, and your milk of choice in the blender.
Step 3: blend it up!
Start your blender on low speed, pushing frozen fruit down towards the blades and turning up the speed as it blends.
Keep blending and pushing fruit down until it is completely smooth.
Step 3: scoop and add your toppings
Scoop pineapple strawberry smoothie bowl between two coconut bowls. Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!
I used granola, coconut chips, mango, and banana on these. These toppings add the perfect compliment to the creamy texture of the smoothie bowl!

FAQ's
Frequently asked questions about my thick strawberry pineapple smoothie bowl recipe.
Why is my smoothie bowl so watery?
You either used fresh fruit or you used too much liquid! The key to a thick smoothie bowl is to use as little liquid as possible along with frozen not fresh fruit.
What do you top a smoothie bowl with?
Here are my 4 favorite healthy smoothie bowl toppings:
- Fresh fruit! Choose any of your favorite fruits!
- Chia seeds. These pack so much extra protein and fiber!
- Nut or seed butter. Another great source of protein for your smoothie bowl!
- Granola. This adds the best crunch to your smoothie bowl!
How do I make a strawberry pineapple smoothie bowl without banana?
My strawberry pineapple smoothie bowl base is already made without banana! The picture has a banana as a topping, but just leave it off if you don't like banana.
Can I make a pineapple strawberry smoothie bowl with yogurt?
Yes! Yogurt is an excellent option for more healthy fats and protein. Replace the milk with yogurt. In this recipe you would use ½ cup of yogurt in place of the ½ cup milk.
Just watch out for flavored yogurts! They can contain a lot of added sugars, and the fruit in the smoothie bowl is already sweet. So choose plain yogurt to avoid too much sugar.
