Oleato also known as Olive Oil in Coffee! An Oleato is simply olive oil shaken or blended into hot or iced coffee. My Oleato Coffee recipe is an excellent way to get more healthy fats into your day and all the benefits of olive oil!

Starbucks just released 3 new beverages that all include olive oil! Who would've thought this combination would come together at one of the most famous coffee chains. There is the Starbucks Oleato Caffe Latte, which is a light roasted coffee infused with extra virgin olive oil and topped with frothy warm oat milk.

Next up is the Starbucks Oleato Golden Foam Cold Brew. This olive oil infused cold brew is perfect to cool off in the spring and summer with a healthy kick! Extra virgin olive oil infused right into the cold foam and piled on top of strong cold brew. Yum!

And finally is the Starbucks Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso, which I am sharing how to make right at home below. In my opinion this one is the easiest and most delicious of all 3! This espresso drink is made simply by shaking olive oil right into espresso and topping with milk. Let's give it a try!

Want to learn how to make Starbucks and Dunkin recipes at home, but healthier? Make sure to read my Healthy Iced Caramel Macchiato Tutorial, featuring my homemade healthy date caramel recipe that can also be used in tons of my healthy dessert recipes!

    OLEATO RECIPE INGREDIENTS

Starbucks has their own signature way of making coffee drinks, but I am going to show you how to make an Oleato Shaken Espresso Recipe right at home with common ingredients and it will taste just as good!

All you need to make an Oleato coffee at home is:

    • Espresso (or strong brewed coffee)
    • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    • Pure Vanilla Extract (or Hazelnut Extract)
    • Optional Sweetener (Sugar, Brown Sugar, Maple Syrup, etc.)
    • Ice Cubes
    • Milk of Choice

CAN I PUT OLIVE OIL IN MY COFFEE?

Yes! To mix coffee and olive oil yourself at home, use a hand held drink mixer or blender to mix 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil into your coffee with any other ingredients. You can also use a jar with a tight fitting lid and shake the olive oil into your coffee.

WHAT IS A HEALTHY OIL TO ADD TO COFFEE?

You can put extra virgin olive oil in your oleato coffee recipe because the fats inside the olive oil have extra beneficial health effects. Make sure to use cold pressed extra virgin olive oil that is stored in a dark container out of light for the most healthy benefits!

As an added bonus, the healthy fats inside the olive oil help to slow the absorption of caffeine into your system, which gives you the energy without as many caffeine jitters.

IS IT HEALTHY TO PUT OLIVE OIL IN YOUR COFFEE?

Long ago we believed fat made you fat. Not any more. "We should be adding more healthy fats to our diet," explains Rosemary, Registered Dietitian and expert in women's gut health. Fats help with hormone balance and gut health, which help sustain a long term healthy weight.

Adding olive oil into your coffee is an excellent way to get more healthy fats in your diet, especially if you don't typically eat a lot of nuts, seeds, and whole milk dairy products. This oleato recipe is a must try healthy coffee drink.

CAN I DRINK OLIVE OIL IN COFFEE FOR WEIGHT LOSS?

Yes! Adding olive oil in your coffee is excellent for weight loss. Instead of your classic coffee loaded with sugars and artificial sweeteners, try adding a tablespoon of olive oil, and go light on the added sugars.

Olive oil in Coffee's benefits include improvements in:

    • Gut Health
    • Hormone Balance
    • Heart Health, including blood pressure and cholesterol
    • Inflammation
    • Joint Health
    • Skin Health

HOW TO MAKE STARBUCKS OLEATO AT HOME

My Oleato Shaken Espresso recipe is so easy to make right at home! Grab a mason jar with a tight fitting lid, or a drink shaker and let's get started!

STEP 1: Shake Espresso into Olive Oil

    In a jar add:

    • 2 shots of fresh brewed espresso (or ¼ cup strong brewed coffee)
    • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
    • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla or hazelnut extract
    • ½ cup ice cubes
    • sweetener of choice, optional

Cover tightly and shake until the espresso is frothy. You can alternatively use a blender or hand held blender to blend the olive oil into your espresso.

STEP 2: Add Milk and Enjoy!

Remove the lid and add more ice cubes.

Top with any kind of milk that you like. I love using organic unsweetened soy milk in my espresso recipes because I am sensitive to dairy and too much sugar. But use the kind of milk that works best for you!

Add more ice and use a straw to stir the milk into the espresso that is on the bottom of your Oelato. Enjoy! Let me know what you think of the taste of olive oil in coffee below. I think it was pretty delicious but had to be drank pretty fast as the olive oil began to separate from the coffee.

HOW TO MAKE STARBUCKS OLEATO GOLDEN FOAM

As a dietitian, I love any recipes that I make every day and that I can add in a little something extra healthy! Is an iced brown sugar shaken espresso totally healthy? No! But I do love it and I drink one every day in the summer, so why not add some healthy olive oil!

The Starbucks Oleato Golden Foam Shaken Espresso is a perfect fusion of the delicious starbucks iced brown sugar shaken espresso and a frothy cold foam infused with olive oil. I absolutely love this drink.

Yes you can taste the olive oil a little bit, so be warned! I love it, but if you don't like the taste of olive oil, this drink probably isn't for you.

STEP 1: MAKE A CLASSIC ICED BROWN SUGAR SHAKEN ESPRESSO

Start your Oleato golden foam shaken espresso drink by making a classic iced brown sugar shaken espresso.

In a mason jar with a lid, add the ingredients for your iced shaken espresso:

    • 2 shots of espresso
    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
    • Dash of cinnamon
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla
    • Pinch of salt
    • A couple ice cubes.

Cover and shake the brown sugar espresso until the sugar is totally dissolved.

In another glass, add about 1 cup of ice cubes and 1 cup of any kind of milk that you like. I typically use protein flax milk in my iced lattes these days.

Pour the iced brown sugar shaken espresso over the milk. Set your brown sugar shaken espresso aside while you make the Oleato golden foam.

STEP 2: MAKE THE OLEATO GOLDEN FOAM

Grab a jar, and add the ingredients for your Oleato Golden Foam:

    • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
    • 2 tablespoons milk of choice
    • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
    • 1 tablespoon of sweetener if you want a sweet cold foam

If you want a very thick and creamy cold foam, use 4 tablespoons of heavy cream and omit the milk. The half milk half cream is more similar to the Starbucks cold foam, which melts down into your iced coffee faster.

Use an hand held milk frother to beat your golden foam until it is thick and creamy, not as thick as whipped cream so don't over beat it!

Pour the oleato golden foam over your iced shaken espresso and enjoy!
