    Gut Healthy Mojito Mocktail

The best gut healthy mojito mocktail recipe you'll ever make! This delicious mojito mocktail recipe is made just like the best mojitos in Mexico.. without the alcohol. So take a vacation with me while we make the most delicious mojito recipe with no alcohol!

My husband and I have been trying to perfect an alcohol free mojito mocktail for awhile now and thanks to one of my best friends, finally nailed it!

Love making drinks at home and want to learn how to make Starbucks and Dunkin recipes at home, but healthier? Make sure to read my Healthy Iced Caramel Macchiato Tutorial, featuring my homemade healthy date caramel recipe that can also be used in tons of my healthy dessert recipes!

THE BEST ALCOHOL FREE MOJITO MOCKTAIL INGREDIENTS

Making mocktails are so easy to make at home, refreshing, and best of all: make you feel better instead of worse! My gut healthy mojito mocktail ingredients are simple, fresh and delicious! Here's what you'll need to make the best mojito recipe:

This recipe will make 1 mojito mocktail, so if you're making more simply multiply by the amount you want!

    • Handful fresh spearmint leaves
    • 2 tablespoons raw honey (can also use 1 tablespoon raw cane sugar)
    • 2 fresh limes, juiced
    • Ice cubes
    • 1 cup unsweetened kombucha or sparkling lime water

    And that's it!

HOW DO YOU MAKE MOJITO MOCKTAILS TASTE BETTER?

Mojitos will taste better when you add enough of the "flavoring ingredients." I've seen bartenders at really nice restaurants use only 2-3 mint leaves, skip muddling the leaves, and even leave out fresh lime juice all together!

To make a delicious mojito mocktail recipe, it'll take a little more time, but the outcome is SO delicious and flavorful.

WHAT IS THE SECRET TO A GOOD MOJITO MOCKTAIL RECIPE?

The secret to a perfect gut healthy mojito mocktail recipe is in the quality of the ingredients and the preparation. Don't just mash the mint leaves a couple of times and expect to get a strong sweet mint flavor! Here are my top tips I've learned over the years of trial and error.

SMASH THE MINT LEAVES WELL WITH THE SWEETENER! Smashing mint leaves well takes more time, but lets out much more flavor into your drink rather than just tossing them in the glass. This allows the mint flavor to really stand out in your drink instead of being a weak after taste.

ALWAYS USE FRESH LIME JUICE! Fresh lime juice will always taste better than bottled lime juice.

USE KOMBUCHA! To make your gut healthy mojito really gut healthy, use unsweetened kombucha! Kombucha is filled with friendly living bacteria that is amazing for your gut health and overall health.

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST GUT HEALTHY MOJITO MOCKTAIL RECIPE AT HOME

These are the ingredients to make 1 mojito mocktail recipe, so if you're making them for more than one person, multiply the ingredients I've described below! Don't skip any of these steps because they all play an important role.

STEP 1: MUDDLE MINT LEAVES WITH HONEY

In the bottom of a glass, smash the mint leaves with the honey.

And if you really want to go over the top, like I did below, you can grind the mint leaves into a paste which creates a very strong minty flavor in your mojito mocktail. We love the little mint pieces in our drinks, but this is a personal preference you can try out too!

smashing mint leaves with a mortar and pestle
finely smashed mint leaves in a mortar
smashed mint leaves in a mason jar

STEP 2: ADD FRESH LIME JUICE

Next, add the juice of 2 limes to your glass. Fill the glass half way with ice cubes and stir to combine.

STEP 3: ADD KOMBUCHA OR SPARKLING LIME WATER!

Finally, fill your glass to the top with kombucha or sparkling lime water, I used about a half can. My husband likes his mojitos more carbonated and I like them less carbonated. So add a bit and adjust to your fizzy preference. 🙂

Stir one more time, add your garnishes and enjoy!
