PROBIOTIC MARGARITA MOCKTAIL INGREDIENTS
My strawberry probiotic margarita mocktail is so refreshing and easy to make! You only need a few simple tools and ingredients.
Ingredients to make 2 probiotic margarita mocktail's:
- ½ cup fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
- 2 limes
- 8 ounces orange juice
- 8 ounces plain kombucha (unsweetened)
- 2 cups ice cubes
- Salt for the rim
WHAT DOES A PROBIOTIC MARGARITA MOCKTAIL TASTE LIKE?
A delicious combination of the basil, lime, and salt on the rim that gave these virgin margaritas that real taste of a cocktail... but without alcohol!
I added kombucha to my margarita mocktail to get a more authentic cocktail flavor.
A lot of mocktail recipes use soda and have way too much sugar. So I left the sugar out of this margarita mocktail recipe. You get a tangy naturally sweet flavor that is so good and healthy for you too!
TIPS TO MAKE THE BEST PROBIOTIC MARGARITA MOCKTAIL
USE FRESH IN SEASON STRAWBERRIES. If strawberries are not in season, use frozen organic strawberries to get a strong strawberry flavor.
USE FRESH BASIL LEAVES. This will give you the strongest basil flavor!
SAVE THE LIME PEELS. Use the lime peels to run along the edge of your margarita glass to help the salt stick.
USE UNSWEETENED KOMBUCHA. If you want the most gut healthy benefits in your probiotic margarita, make sure there is no added sugar in your kombucha!
HOW TO MAKE A PROBIOTIC MARGARITA MOCKTAIL
Now let's get started! First, I like to gather up all my ingredients so they are ready to go.
STEP 1: SMASH STRAWBERRIES AND BASIL
Start by adding your basil leaves to a cocktail shaker.
If you don't have one, a large pitcher or thick glass would work just fine.
Next, add the chopped up strawberries and the lime juice.
Using your pestle, mash the strawberries with the basil and the lime juice. Make sure you get it totally mashed!
STEP 2: ADD REMAINING INGREDIENTS AND SHAKE!
Once your strawberries are mashed into a puree, you can add your remaining probiotic margarita mocktail ingredients:
- 8 ounces kombucha
- 8 ounces orange juice
Cover the drink shaker and shake to combine all the ingredients. Do not shake too hard because kombucha is carbonated and might pop the lid off.
STEP 3: SALT THE RIM AND SERVE!
Prepare a shallow bowl filled with salt to salt the rim of your glass.
Use one of the lime peels to run along the rim of your glass. They're perfect to give that little bit of moisture for the salt to cling to!
Dip your glass into the dish of salt.
Using the drink strainer, strain your mocktail into your glass. If you don't have one, you can also place a lid over your mixture, and leave a very small opening while you pour so that only the liquid comes out.
Serve your drink over ice or even frozen berries to chill it off even more!

FAQ'S
Frequently asked questions about my virgin strawberry basil margarita mocktail on the rocks.
CAN I MAKE A MARGARITA MOCKTAIL IN A DIFFERENT GLASS?
Yes of course! You can use any glass that you like! This drink will taste good served in any glass.
HOW CAN I MAKE A STRAWBERRY BASIL MARGARITA FROZEN?
If you want a frozen strawberry basil cocktail instead, add all your ingredients to a blender including the ice and blend until smooth. For a super frozen margarita, use frozen instead of fresh strawberries. For a less intense basil flavor (because in the shaken margarita, basil is strained out), use half the basil in your blender.
ARE BASIL STRAWBERRY MARGARITA MOCKTAILS HEALTHY?
Classic strawberry basil cocktails are not healthy because of the sugar and alcohol in them. Also, most places will use sweetened strawberries too, adding to the sugar content. My skinny strawberry basil margarita is made with all healthy ingredients like fresh basil & strawberries, fresh limes, and gut healthy kombucha.
WHAT KIND OF KOMBUCHA SHOULD I USE FOR A KOMBUCHA STRAWBERRY MARGARITA MOCKTAIL?
If you want your kombucha cocktail to be as healthy as possible, buy a kombucha with no added sugars. A lot of kombuchas are bottled with added sugars, which really takes away from the kombucha health benefits.
