HOW TO MAKE A UTI MOCKTAIL RECIPE
My UTI prevention mocktail is so simple to make! Make sure you leave enough time to let your dandelion tea steep and cool for the full benefits.
STEP 1: STEEP DANDELION TEA
Start by making the dandelion tea so it has time to steep and cool. You can also brew the tea the night before and store it in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight glass jar.
Prepare your dandelion tea by either adding 1 dandelion tea bag per 4-6 ounces of hot water. Or, 1 teaspoons of loose dried dandelion tea per 4 ounces of water.
Let the dandelion tea steep for at least 15 minutes and cool off to room temperature before drinking it in your UTI drink.
STEP 2: MASH FRESH CRANBERRIES
Next, add ½ cup whole cranberries to the bottom of your serving glass. Use a drink muddler to mash the cranberries until they are completely mashed and pureed. You can also puree the cranberries in a blender.
I love using whole cranberries in this UTI mocktail because they provide all the benefits of the fruit, not just the juice.
If you can not find whole cranberries, you can use the next best thing which is cold pressed cranberry juice.
STEP 3: PUT IT ALL TOGETHER
Finally, assemble your UTI prevention drink! Pour the dandelion tea over the mashed cranberries in your glass, then top with kombucha, apple cider vinegar, and honey.
You can add ice cubes if you like your UTI mocktail even colder and garnish with lime slices, mint leaves, and even more cranberries!
VARIATIONS
If you're looking for more ingredients you can experiment with to help relieve your UTIs, here are some different variations that help to flush out bad bacteria through their diuretic effect and also decrease inflammation.
PARSLEY TEA FOR UTIS. Parsley tea is also a diuretic, so it makes you go to the bathroom more, and help your body flush out the bad bacteria that are causing the UTI. It is also rich in vitamin C, which helps your immune system fight off the infection. Its anti-inflammatory properties can reduce inflammation and help soothe irritation.
GINGER TEA FOR UTIS. Ginger is one of the most widely used plants for treating infection, after garlic and turmeric. It has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. Ginger tea can help support the immune system to fight off UTIs, reduce inflammation and discomfort caused by the UTI and also give mild antibacterial benefits. Ginger tea isn't a direct cure for UTIs but it can support your body to fight off the infection!
RAW GARLIC. Now I now this one might make some people cringe, and some people (garlic lovers like me) happy. Raw garlic is a powerful natural cure that has been used for ages. Raw garlic contains allicin, a compound with potent antibacterial and antifungal properties that can help fight the bacteria responsible for causing UTIs. It also has anti-inflammatory effects, which may reduce the pain and discomfort associated with a UTI. Eating raw garlic into your diet can support the immune system and help prevent the recurrence of urinary tract infections by combating harmful bacteria.
