CREAMY WATERMELON SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS
This recipe is so easy to make and uses up all your fresh local summer ingredients! I highly recommend adding the spearmint. The spearmint in this smoothie recipe adds the perfect touch of minty flavor.
- Frozen watermelon
- Fresh ripe strawberries
- Fresh spearmint
- Coconut water & cream
IS FROZEN WATERMELON GOOD FOR SMOOTHIES?
Yes! My secret for a creamy watermelon smoothie that does not separate quickly is using frozen watermelon chunks! Frozen watermelon will keep your smoothie nice and cold for much longer which means slow summer sipping. 🙂
HOW TO MAKE A FROZEN WATERMELON SMOOTHIE WITHOUT YOGURT!
My frozen watermelon smoothie recipe is so easy to make and is sure to cool you off this summer! Let's get started!
STEP 1: CUT AND FREEZE WATERMELON
First, cut your watermelon into chunks. Add the chunks to a freezer safe bag and freeze the watermelon flat. Do not layer watermelon or they will stick together and make it harder to blend.
STEP 2: ADD ALL INGREDIENTS TO A BLENDER
Once the watermelon is frozen solid, add all ingredients to your blender:
- 4 cups frozen watermelon
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
- 1 sprig mint leaves
- 1 ½ cups coconut water
- optional: a scoop of coconut cream
STEP 3: BLEND AND SERVE!
Blend your watermelon smoothie ingredients until the mixture is totally pureed. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy!

FAQ's
Frequently asked questions about my healthy watermelon smoothie recipe.
Is it OK to blend watermelon seeds?
I would definitely choose a seedless watermelon for this recipe. The seeds are not going to give you a super creamy texture and depending on your blender, might not totally blend down. But, watermelon seeds are safe to eat so if you are looking for even more fiber, totally blend them in!
What fruit mixes well with watermelon?
My watermelon smoothie recipe is made with strawberries and coconut, which I think pair perfectly with watermelon! I've also made watermelon smoothies with pineapple and mango too, which are super tropical and give your smoothie a very sweet flavor!
Can I make a watermelon smoothie with fresh watermelon?
Yes absolutely! Just keep in mind that it will not be as cold and creamy as the frozen watermelon version. You can add a couple of handfuls of ice cubes along with the fresh watermelon.
